Reverse Gear Clutch

Required special tools and equipment:





^ VW 401 Press plate
^ VW 460 Removal device
^ 3267 Assembly ring

Note:
Only disassemble clutch if you clean or visually check the components.
When checking, be sure not to damage ball valve -arrow-.





1 Circlip Mark after removing and insert in same position
2 Thrust plate Smooth side must face inner plates
3 Inner plate
^ Quantity - Refer to Specifications
4 Outer plate
^ Quantity - Refer to Specifications
5 Corrugated washer
6 Circlip
7 Spring supporting plate
^ With springs
^ Installation position refer to Fig. 2
8 Spring supporting ring
9 Piston
^ Sealing lips are vulcanized to piston
^ Moisten sealing lips with ATF before installing
^ Turn piston slightly when installing
10 Clutch housing

^ Carefully press spring supporting plate down with 3267 just enough to remove and install circlip.
^ Be careful not to damage clutch housing ball valve.

Circlip -arrow- must be seated in groove of clutch housing. Spring supporting plate must be centered relative to hub.
