Ball joint, checking





Checking axial play
- Forcibly pull ball joint down and press up again.





Checking radial play
- Press lower part of wheel forcefully outward and inward.

Notes:
^ There must not be perceptible "play" when carrying out both checks.
^ Observe ball joint during checks.
^ Take into account any possible existing wheel bearing play or play in upper suspension strut rubber mount.
^ Check the ball joint rubber boot for damage, replace ball joint if necessary
