Front Seatbelts With Belt Tensioner - Assembly Overview (Convertible)

CAUTION: Belt tensioner units must be removed before starting any separation work, repairs or bulge corrections.







1 - Cover cap
2 - Hex bolt
- 40 Nm

3 - Belt relay
4 - Washer
5 - Seatbelt with belt tensioner
- Retaining tab determines position of automatic belt retractors
- Observe safety precautions for belt tensioners.

- Removing:

CAUTION: Observe safety precautions for belt tensioners.

- Disconnect battery
- Remove side trim.
- Remove cylinder bolt - 12 -.
- Remove hex bolt - 11 -.
- Remove hex bolt - 2 -.

CAUTION: Electrostatic charges may result in involuntary deployment of the belt tensioner. Therefore, the technician must be electrostatically discharged before disconnecting ignition- and Ground (GND) wires. This is done e.g. by briefly grasping the chassis or door striker.

- Disconnect harness connector - 7 -.
- Remove hex bolt - 8 -.

6 - Connection wire
7 - Connector
8 - Hex bolt
- 40 Nm
- Belt tensioner is secured by loosening hex bolt - 8 -, and conversely made ready for function again (does not apply with electrical tensioners).

9 - Anchor rail
- Beforehand, seatbelt must be threaded through side trim.

10 - Washer
11 - Hex bolt
- 40 Nm

12 - Cylinder bolt
- 23 Nm

13 - Front seatbelt latch
- With seatbelt fasten sensor
- Front seat belt latch bolt (not shown) Torque specification: [24 Nm ± 2.4 Nm]
