LATCH System "Lower Anchors And Tethers For Children" (USA)

LATCH, definition


LATCH system "Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children" is a combination of rear upper tethers and rear lower anchors used to secure child seat.







Vehicles up to manufacture date 09.00 (09/00) (see label on drivers side B-pillar - arrow -) must be checked for mounting of guides during Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI).

As of January 2001, markings on rear backrest indicate mounting point for anchors -arrow -.

NOTE:
- Technical Bulletin on LATCH guidance fixtures, no longer apply to vehicles equipped with markings on rear backrest.
- Except for a few 1998 models, all vehicles have anchors as standard equipment.

Upper mounting point







Rear upper anchor - arrow - mounting point.

Lower mounting point







Rear lower anchor - arrow - mounting point.

NOTE:
- Rear lower anchors secure child seat without using seatbelt. Anchors are a secure and easy-to-use attachment and minimize the risk of installing child seat improperly.
- Rear anchors are secured to floor assembly between rear backrest and rear seatbench.
