Ribbed belt, removing and installing

Special tools and equipment
For vehicles with tensioning arm:
Ribbed belt installation tool 3299

CAUTION!
- Before removing ribbed belt mark the direction of rotation.
- When installing the belt make sure it is correctly seated in the pulley.

Removing
Vehicles with V-belt for power steering pump:
- Removing V-belt for power steering pump.
- Mark direction of rotation of ribbed belt.
- Remove ribbed belt cover.

Vehicles with tensioning arm:



- Lift tensioner with ribbed belt install tool 3299.
- Remove ribbed belt from generator pulley.

Installing

CAUTION!
- When installing used ribbed belts observe the direction of rotation marked on removal.
- When installing ribbed belts make sure it locates correctly in the pulleys.

^ 3090 Connecting rod support

Removing ribbed belt
- Mark direction of rotation of ribbed belt.





- To loosen ribbed belt turn tensioning element in direction of arrow.





- Lock tensioning device with 3090 Connecting rod support.
- Remove or install ribbed belt.

Note: When installing ribbed belts ensure the belt seats correctly in the belt pulley.

- Remove insulation tray.
Remove or install ribbed belt.
- Start engine and check belt running.

Note: Engines with an air conditioning compressor are equipped with a double ribbed belt.
