A/C Compressor and Bracket Assembly



A/C Compressor and Bracket - 1.8L 4-Cylinder Turbo Gasoline Engine, Assembly







Special tools, testers, measuring instruments and auxiliary items required
- Torque wrench (5 - 50 Nm)

NOTE:
- The compressor bracket and related components can be removed and installed without having to open the refrigerant circuit.
- All ancillary components must be removed prior to removal of compressor mounting bracket.
- Ribbed belt, routing.

1. Bracket
Mounting for:
- Generator
- Compressor
- Power steering pump
- Removing:
- Remove ribbed belt Service and Repair
- Remove Generator (GEN) Service and Repair
- Remove power steering pump Service and Repair
- Remove bolts -8-
- Remove compressor -7- from bracket, swing away and secure in engine compartment with wire.
- Remove bolt -3- where applicable.
- Remove bolts -4- (Qty.: 5) and -5-.
- Remove compressor bracket from engine.

NOTE: Bracket comes in two versions See Fig. 2.

- Where applicable
3. Hex socket bolt
- Where applicable
- M10X70
- 45 Nm (33 ft.lb)
- Observe installation sequence See Fig. 1.
4. Hex socket bolt
- M10X45
- 45 Nm (33 ft.lb)
- Observe installation sequence See Fig. 1.
5. Hex socket bolt
- Only with bracket version -A- where applicable See Fig. 2.
- M10X45
- 45 Nm (33 ft.lb)
- Observe installation sequence See Fig. 1.
6. Bushing
- Only with bracket version -A- where applicable See Fig. 2.
7. Compressor
- Sanden SD7-V16
- With A/C clutch -N25-
- A/C clutch -N25-, servicing
8. Hex head bolt
- M10X112
- 45 Nm (33 ft. lb)

When installing bracket, proceed as follows:
- Locate bracket on engine block.
- First install bolts -1- and -2- hand tight (allows slight repositioning of bracket for other bolts if necessary)
- Then install remaining bolts -3-, -4-, -5- and -6- in order as illustrated.
- Torque all bolts to 45 Nm.

NOTE: When installing the belt ensure it is correctly seated in the pulley.
