Brake booster, removing and installing
Special tools and equipment
^ 3094 Hose clamps
Removing
- Obtain radio code on vehicles with coded radio.
- Disconnect battery.
- Clamp clutch master cylinder supply hose with special tool 3094.
- Remove clutch master cylinder supply hose.
- Remove control module and hydraulic unit.
- Disconnect vacuum hose from brake servo.
Vehicles with TDI engine
- Remove retainer for wiring harness from vacuum pump.
Continued for all vehicles
- Disconnect connector -1- out of retainer -2-.
- Disconnect connection -1-.
- Remove trim below instrument panel.
- Remove bolts -1-.
- Remove cover -A-.
Vehicles with manual transmission
- Remove connecting plate between clutch and brake pedals on vehicles with a manual transmission.
- Remove brake light switch -1-.
- Remove brake pedal from brake booster.
- Remove nuts -arrows-.
- Guide brake booster with brake master cylinder out forward to remove.
Installing
Install brake master cylinder with brake booster in reverse order of removal.
- Adjust brake light switch, Refer to Lighting and Horns, Brake Light Switch, Adjustments
- After installing, bleed brakes.
