Steering Angle Sensor: Service and Repair


Steering angle sensor -G85-, removing and installing
- Removing airbag module and steering wheel.
Refer to Restraint System, Air Bag, Service and Repair. Steering and Suspension. Steering Wheel, Refer to Steering and Suspension, Steering Wheel,Service and Repair.
- Turn wheels to straight ahead position.
- Take out covering in footwell.





- Remove bolts -1-.
- Take off handle for height and reach adjustment -5-.
- Unscrew bolts -2-, -3- and -4-.
- Take off lower steering column switch trim.





- Remove upper steering column switch trim -1-.





The steering angle sensor -G85- is installed in a housing -1- together with the coil connector.





- Pull off connectors -1- and -2-.





- Lift hooks -arrows- carefully and remove steering angle sensor -G85-.

Installing
The steering angle sensor -G85- must be set to it's centered position before installing.
- Position steering angle sensor -G85- and push down until the lugs engage.
- Remove transportation protection.





- A yellow mark must be visible in hole -arrow 1-.
- The marks -arrows- must also align.
Make sure it does not move from center position.
Further installation in reverse order
- Installing airbag module and steering column.

- Perform steering angle sensor -G85- basic settings.
