Condition
Wind Deflector, Locking Pins Break
Convertible top wind deflector locking pins break.
Technical Background
The handle of the wind deflector locking pin, which fits into the rear trim panel, may crack and/or break. The wind deflector cannot be securely installed in the vehicle if this condition occurs.
Production Solution
The metal sleeve inside the locking pin was extended and the length of the handle attachment screw was increased. This change provides greater durability/reinforcement of the handle to pin attachment.
Service
Locking pin assembly (-1-) and fasteners (-2-), as shown.
Note:
Locking pin kit includes new (4) fasteners that must be used during repair.
^ Install new locking pins and fasteners on wind deflector. See Repair Manual, Body Exterior, Group 66 - Exterior equipment, "Wind deflector" for procedure.
Tighten new (4) fasteners to 1.5 N.m (13 lb.in).
