Body - Plastic Cap On Lower Lock Is Damaged/Loose

Convertible Top, Plastic Cap on Lower Lock is Damaged, Loose or Missing.

Technical Background

For new style lower lock assembly only, this condition may be caused by the contact between the convertible top and plastic cap (damper) attached to the lower lock.

Production Solution

Not applicable.

Service

Install repair kit lock lower part if plastic cap (damper) is damaged, loose or missing.

- Open convertible top.

- Inspect plastic cap of lower lock (see illustration; Damper). If damaged, loose or missing, install repair kit, Part No: 1Y0 872 489 (1 kit per side).





Warranty

NOTE:
Do not replace the "new style" lock lower assembly when the plastic cap (damper) is damaged, loose or missing. Warranty claims will be debited.
