Automatic Rollover Supports(TM) (Convertible)
Safety precautions when working on Automatic Rollover Supports(TM)
CAUTION:
- Testing, removing, installing and repair work may only be performed by qualified personnel.
- The battery Ground (GND) strap must be disconnected when working on the Automatic Rollover Supports(TM).
- The Automatic Rollover Supports(TM) may only be worked on when in the raised position. The Automatic Rollover Supports(TM) can be raised using tester VAS 5051.
- When engaged in the lowered position the Automatic Rollover Supports(TM) must have approx. 1mm play downward.
- When reconnecting the battery no persons may be in the vicinity of the Automatic Rollover Supports(TM) (at least 1 m distance from system)
- The Automatic Rollover Supports(TM) must be installed immediately after removal from its transportation container.
- It is not permitted to leave the Automatic Rollover Supports(TM) unit unattended.
- The Automatic Rollover Supports(TM) must be stored in the "laid down" position when removed.
- The Automatic Rollover Supports(TM) may not be disassembled or repaired.
- Automatic Rollover Supports(TM) which have been dropped onto a hard surface or show signs of damage (especially in the area of the magnetic switch) must not be installed in a vehicle.
- All damaged components must be replaced after an accident. If no damage can be determined on the Automatic Rollover Supports(TM) it can be reused. Perform a functional check of the Automatic Rollover Supports(TM) with tester VAS 5051.
- No objects may be placed on the Automatic Rollover Supports(TM) when testing the control elements.
- The Automatic Rollover Supports(TM) must always be removed when performing body repairs in the vicinity of the roll-over system.
- After performing body repairs in the vicinity of the Automatic Rollover Supports(TM) check the body for weld splatter, distortions and abrasion points (compare with opposite side).
WARNING:
- The roll-over bar can cause injuries to persons who are in the trigger area.
- Ensure that no hand is at the release lever when the roll-over bar is pushed in. Risk of injury:
- Do not let objects to fall into the triggered roll-over bar outlets. If such situation happens, do not push in the roll-over bar.
- If the roll-over bar is not engaged properly, a risk of injuries will exist because the roll- over bar could be triggered unexpectedly.
NOTE:
- The roll-over bar can be raised using tester VAS 5051.
- Airbag (K145) warning lamp displays an error as soon as number of triggerings has exceeded maximum.
- All damaged components must be replaced after an accident. If no damage can be determined on the roll-over bar it can be reused. Perform a functional check of the rollover bar with tester VAS5051.
