Assembly Carrier, Removing and Installing
The window regulators, the door lock and the loudspeaker are secured to the mounting plate.
The door lock can only be removed in conjunction with the subframe.
The mounting plate can only be removed when the door window clamping brackets of the window regulator are unscrewed. To do this lower door window to the height of the assembly holes in assembly carrier and loosen clamps.
If electrical windows cannot be lowered then the cause of the fault must be determined first.
To do this, interrogate with fault memory V.A.G 1551 of convenience system (address word 46).
If an electrical fault is present, repair this first.
If it is established that the electric window motor is the cause of the fault, then continue as described on.
Removing
- Remove front door trim Service and Repair
- Remove lock cylinder housing. Service and Repair
- Unclip clip -1- from door handle.
- Pry out cover caps -1-.
- Lower door window until door window securing bolts are accessible.
NOTE: If the work sequence cannot be carried out because there is a fault with the electric window motor, remove motor to slide window down.
- Loosen bolts -2- and press clamps apart.
- Push window upward and secure in position (e.g. with adhesive tape).
- Remove operating lever for hood lock (drivers side only).
- Remove A pillar lower trim.
- Disconnect multi-pin connectors -1- on A pillar -2-.
- Take cover -1- for wiring harness -2- out of body opening in the inner A pillar.
- Pull wiring harness out of A pillar at boots -1- between door and A pillar.
- Disconnect connector for exterior mirror -arrow- and unhook wiring from subframe.
- Remove screw -1- and unhook wiring harness guide -2- from door.
- Guide wiring harness with boots through door.
- Remove bolts -1- tightening torque: 20 Nm
- Remove bolts -1- to -11-. Pull top of mounting plate off door, lift and take out of door towards hinges.
- Turn mounting plate and pull connector off door lock.
Installing
- Pull lock lever -1- in direction of arrow.
- Tension spring -2- which is secured on door lock, in direction of arrow with a screwdriver and hook locking lever into spring.
NOTE: Hooking the operating lever in locks the lock. "Incorrectly" attaching of the cable later is thereby prevented (lock may move slightly).
- Insert mounting plate in door.
- Insert all bolts -1- up to -11-. Tighten the bolts/screws in the order as they are numbered. 8 Nm
- Push door window -1- into window guide -arrow- and tighten clamps with bolts/screws -2- (10 Nm).
- Then perform remaining installation in reverse order.
Then perform functional check
