Campaign Work Procedure

Work Sequence
Section A - Check for Correct Amplifier
- Open rear lid
- Rotate holding clips and fold luggage compartment rear carpeting (below lock carrier) forward
- Remove push pin retainers -4- on lock carrier trim panel -1-
- Pry lock carrier trim panel off of clips -2- on side trim panels
- Unhook top corner edges of lock carrier trim panel from side panel, lift out of clips -5- and rubber seal -3- and set lock carrier trim panel -1- aside
- Check amplifier for a small green label with words "CORRIENTE OK":
NOTE: The label can be in a different location other then where it is shown in the illustration. A flashlight and mirror will be helpful to view opposite end
- If the green label is on the amplifier, no further work is required, reinstall lock carrier trim panel
- If the green label is not on the amplifier, proceed to section B
Section B - Amplifier Replacement
- Obtain anti-theft radio security code and record radio preset stations
- Switch off all electrical consumers
- Switch ignition key to the "OFF" position and remove key
- Open hood and disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal
- Remove nuts -2- securing amplifier
- Remove amplifier from holding bracket and disconnect connectors from end of amplifier
NOTE: Removing of the round cover -arrow- in the side trim panel may provide better access for disconnecting the connectors
- Obtain new amplifier (1C0 035 456 A) with green label (CORRIENTE OK), reconnect electrical connectors and slide amplifier into groove of holding bracket
- Secure with nuts -2- and tighten to 10 Nm (89 in. lbs.)
- Reconnect the negative (-) battery terminal and tighten nut to 6 Nm (53 in. lbs.)
- Perform the power restoration procedure
- Activate radio with anti theft code and check for correct operation
- Reinstall round cover in trim panel (if removed) and lock carrier trim panel
NOTE: Make certain weather strip seal is correctly positioned on lock carrier trim panel
- Reposition luggage compartment rear carpeting
- The removed amplifier must be returned to Volkswagen of America Warranty Test Center Attn: VK Service Action
