Connecting VAS 5051 Scan Tool



VAS5051 Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing And Information System, Connecting And Selecting Engine Control Module All

All functions which could previously be performed with V.A.G1551/1552 can also be performed with the new tester VAS5051 in the operating mode vehicle On Board Diagnostic (OBD).

Special tools and workshop







- VAS5051 Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System

Test conditions







- All fuses must be OK.
- The battery voltage must be at least 11.5 V.
- Ground (GND) connection between engine and body must be OK.

Work sequence
- Connect tester VAS5051 using VAS5051/1 or VAS5051/3B diagnostic cable as follows:







- Push plug of diagnostic cable onto diagnostic connection.
- Depending upon desired function: Switch ignition on or Start engine, Table "Selectable functions". Selectable Diagnostic Modes Under Address Word 33 - OBD

NOTE:
- In the functions 04 - Basic setting/08 - Read data block, the display zones will be listed from top to bottom.
- If the display does not indicate as described in the work sequence.

Indicated on display:







Select operating mode:

- Press button on display for "Vehicle On Board Diagnostic (OBD)" -arrow-.

Indicated on display:







Select vehicle system:

- Press "01 - Engine electronics" on display.

On the display the control module identification and coding are displayed, e.g.:







If the coding differs from the vehicle version, then:
- Check control module coding, coding engine control module. Coding Engine Control Module (ECM)

Indicated on display:







Select diagnostic function:

At this point all diagnostic functions are available.
- Press desired function on display.
