LATCH System "Lower Anchors And Tethers For Children", Installing And Retrofitting (Wagon)
The LATCH system for "Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children" consists of the combination of rear upper tethers and rear lower anchors used to secure a child restraint.
NOTE: Installing rear lower anchor bracket for child seat LATCH.
1 - Rear top tether bracket
Installing:
- Cut seatback at indicated dimensions for threaded plate - 5-.
- Install anchoring bracket
2 - Cover
3 - Bolt
- 40 Nm (30 ft lb)
4 - Seatback (2x)
NOTE:
- Verify threaded plate is in place.
- Cut material to allow bolt clearance.
5 - Threaded plate (3x)
- Part of backrest
A tether anchor is used to connect the child restraint rear top tether strap to the vehicle. A tether is a straight or V-shaped strap that attaches the top part of a child restraint to special anchorage points in the vehicle.
Illustration shows seat back with rear top tether anchors.
NOTE:
- Some Passat Wagon models may require a seat back change for tether anchor installation.
- Anchor points shown are in the approximate location. Points may actually be located lower on the seat back.
