Radiator, Removing and Installing
Special tools
^ T10007 Refraktometer
^ V.A.G 1306 Drip tray
^ V.A.G 1331 Torque wrench 5 to 50 Nm (3.7 to 37 ft. lbs.), or equivalent
^ VAS 5024 tool for spring clamps or V.A.G 1921 pincers for spring clamps
Removing
- Drain coolant.
- Remove front bumper.
- Disconnect coolant hoses from radiator.
- Disconnect thermo-switch harness connectors.
- Move lock carrier to service position.
- Remove radiator mounting bolts and take out radiator with fans attached.
Vehicles with A/C:
- Observe additional information and removal work note below.
Installing
Note:
- Installation is carried out in the reverse order of the removal procedure. When installing, note the following:
- Fill with coolant
Vehicles with A/C, additional removal information
WARNING:
- Do NOT open the A/C refrigerant circuit!
Note:
- To prevent damage to the A/C condenser and refrigerant lines/hoses, ensure that the lines and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent.
- Remove retaining clamp(s) from refrigerant lines.
- Remove A/C condenser from radiator and fasten to lock carrier.
