Throttle Cable Adjusting

Special tools
- V.A.G 1788/10 Throttle pedal depresser
- V.A.G 1526 A Multimeter, or equivalent
- V.A.G 1594 A or VW 1594 connector test kit
Work procedure
- Hook throttle cable to throttle pedal and quadrant on Throttle Control Module.
- Remove retaining clip for throttle cable core.
- Depress throttle pedal to Wide Open Throttle position.
NOTE: This step requires a second technician or a pedal depressor.
- Adjust throttle cable by moving retainer at support bracket, so that Wide Open Throttle position is obtained at Throttle Control Module.
- Remove throttle pedal depresser to release throttle.
- Remove 2-pin connector from kick-down switch -F8- on bulkhead.
- Connect multimeter with test leads to kick- down switch.
- Measure resistance.
- Specification: Infinity Ohms
- Slowly depress throttle pedal toward Wide Open Throttle.
- Specification: resistance must decrease to 0 Ohms shortly before throttle pedal reaches stop bolt.
- Check Closed Throttle and Wide Open Throttle Position stops on Throttle Body after adjusting.
