Always initiate On Board Diagnostic (OBD) to start troubleshooting. Electrical malfunctions that affect braking are stored in DTC memory. They can only be read out with the VAG 1551 scan tool.
The indicated diagnostic data leads to a DTC table with notes regarding potential malfunction causes and specific repair procedures.
As of July 1996, display group numbers are entered with 3 digits (current software card version of the VAG1551 scan tool).
