Removal and Replacement

NOTE: The following procedure is for the Golf. The procedure is the same for the Jetta.





1 - Ball stud, 15 Nm (11 ft lb)
2 - Retaining clip
3 - Gas strut
4 - Bolt
5 - Ball stud/mounting plate, 15 Nm (11 ft lb)

- Support rear lid.
- Lift retaining clip -2- with a screwdriver and pull gas strut off ball-head stud -1-.

NOTE: If the gas strut is to be re-used, the retaining clip -2- must not be removed completely or it will be damaged.
