Fuel Pressure Check Valve: Testing and Inspection
Fuel Pump Check Valve, Checking
WARNING!
Fire hazard! Do NOT have anything in the area that can ignite gasoline!
Requirements
- V.A.G 1348/3A Remote control connected.
- V.A.G 1318 Pressure gauge connected.
Test procedure
NOTE: This procedure simultaneously checks all of the fuel supply connections between the fuel delivery unit and the V.A.G 1318 pressure gauge connection.
- Close pressure gauge cut-off tap.
- Lever at right angles to direction of flow (arrow).
- Operate remote control at short intervals, until a pressure of approx. 3 bar has built up.
WARNING!
Danger of fuel spray when opening the cut-off tap, hold container over the open pressure gauge connection.
If too much pressure builds up:
- Lower excess pressure by carefully opening the cut-off tap.
- Watch pressure drop on gauge.
- After 10 minutes the pressure must not drop below 2.5 bar.
If pressure continues dropping:
- Check line connections for leaks.
If OK:
- Fuel pump faulty, replace fuel delivery unit.
