Reading Measuring Value Blocks
Safety precautions
If special testing equipment is required during test drive, note the following:
- Test equipment must always be secured to the rear seat and operated from there by a second person.
If test and measuring equipment is operated from the passenger seat, the person seated there could be injured in the event of an accident involving deployment of the passenger-side airbag.
Read Measuring Value Block (scan tool funtion 08)
- VAG1551 Scan Tool with VAG1551/3 Adapter
Test requirements
- Coolant temperature must be at least 80 °C, See Display group 04, display field 3
- All electrical consumers like, for example, lights and rear window heating must be switched off.
- If vehicle is equipped with an A/C system, it must be switched off.
- For vehicles with automatic transmission, selector lever must be in -P- or -N-.
- There must not be any DTCs stored in DTC memory. Refer to "Displaying, Reading and Erasing Trouble Codes", Testing and Inspection
Work procedure
- Connect VAG 1551 scan tool (VAG1552). Start engine and select the Engine Control Module (ECM) using address word 01 (connecting scan tool and selecting ECM). Refer to "VAG 1551 Scan Tool", [1][2][3][4][5]Connecting VAG 1551 Scan Tool

- Press buttons -0-, -0- and -1 - to select "Display group number 1". Press -Q- button to confirm input.
