Convertible Top - Glass Hinge Comes Loose From Glass

Rear window hinge bracket, loose from glass.

Technical Background
Convertible top glass hinge comes loose from rear glass.

Production Solution
Production stopped during MY 2002.

Service
- Place convertible top in the vertical position (pointing straight up).





- Remove bolt -1- from hinge and remove bracket.

Tip: Prior to cleaning the adhesive residue from the inner glass use a China Marker to identify at the outside of the glass the bracket mount location.





- Clean adhesive from surface of glass where bracket mounts to glass (arrow).





- Clean adhesive from bracket.
- Apply adhesive "Wurth - AdhesivFlex" to hinge and glass (see tip below).

- Install hinge to glass and support by wedging a 1 in. x 14 3/4in. wooden dowel -1- between the hinge and the rear seat base as shown.

Allow adhesive to cure approx. 12 hours before removing dowel
- Reattach rear window glass hinge.

Allow approx. 24 hours before operating convertible top. Do not run vehicle through car wash for approx. 24 hours.
