Front Door Window Glass: Adjustments

Door Window, Adjusting

Requirement:
- Door adjustment to chassis and convertible top adjustment to windshield frame OK.

NOTE: In order to bring weather seals on convertible top down closer to windows during adjustment and to prevent wind noise, water leaks, etc, weather seal retainer will have to be shimmed with double sided tape.

Adjusting door window to front window guide.
- Door window screwed lightly to window regulator.
- Crank door window far enough upward or downward until clamping brackets - 1 - are located in installation openings.
- Loosen clamping brackets - 1 - and push door window into front window guide - arrow -







- Tighten clamping brackets, tightening torque: 10 Nm.

Window regulator, adjusting
- Loosen securing bolts - 2 - and - 3 - from window regulator.
- Do not crank door window up completely (50 mm below upper window level - better stabilization), tighten mounting bolts - 2 - for window regulator at top (10 Nm).







- Lower window, tighten mounting bolts - 3 - for window regulator, tightening torque: 10 Nm.

Door window height adjustment

NOTE: Adjustment is possible with door trim Installed.

- Lower door window.

CAUTION: If only height adjustment is performed, front and rear adjustment must be done in parallel.

- Lower front height adjustment completely.







- Perform adjustment using Torx socket wrench VAS 3271 through holes in inner door plate - arrows -.
- Raise door window







- Adjust door window at upper edge of seal for door/side window - arrow A.

B-pillar, adjusting gap
- Raise window until clamping brackets stand in installation opening.

Front height adjustment is lowered completely.

- Loosen clamping bracket - 1 -.







- Loosen bolt - 2 - for height stop.







- Adjust door window to door-/side window seal - arrows B -







- Position adjusting wedge into center position (connecting with clamping bracket at bottom), and tighten bolt - 2 - tightening torque: 10 Nm.

Window height adjustment, front
- Crank window but not completely (50 mm under upper window level - better stabilization).







- Adjust window at front height adjustment using Torx socket wrench VAS 3271 until there is no play, when doing this move window in direction of - arrow -.

Adjusting window to B-pillar.







- Using a paper strip - 1 -, check window contour to B-pillar seal.
- Window position is changed by sliding adjusting wedge - 1 -.







- Paper strip must be able to be slid under window with equally applied force over entire range of door seal.

Door window pretension, adjusting
- Remove door trim
- Loosen insulation foil.
- Raise door window, remove bolt - arrow - and remove inner wedge - 1 -.
- Wedge - 1 - is no longer installed.







- Install new counter bearing - 2 - on window.







NOTE: New counter bearing should be installed on window with wax to prevent rattling noises.







- When installing new counter bearing, make sure that only bearing with thicker contact surface - arrow - is installed.

- - B - = New counter bearing
