Selector lever mechanism, removing and installing
Removing
- Shift selector lever into "P" position.
- Determine correct coding for anti-theft radio (if equipped).
- Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
- Remove selector lever handle.
- Remove center console and extension.
- Remove cover.
- Disconnect harness connectors.
- Unclip locking cable from locking lever and unclip securing spring on mounting bracket. To do this, lift securing spring slightly.
- Raise vehicle.





- Separate front exhaust pipes at double clamps -A- and -B- and tie up to side.
- Disconnect drive shaft from transmission and tie up or support.





- Remove cover from mounting bracket (arrows).





- Press together ends of securing clip -B- and remove.
- Pull down locking plate -A- (for securing selector lever cable to mounting bracket) and remove.
- Pull selector lever cable off selector lever.
- Remove nuts (Qty. 4) from above.
- Remove mounting bracket from below.
- At same time pull selector lever cable out of mounting bracket. When doing this, do not kink cable.

Installing
^ Selector lever and selector shaft lever in position "P" (parking lock must engage).
- Raise vehicle.
- Slide selector lever cable boot and mounting bracket cover onto selector lever cable.
Do not kink selector lever cable
- Install selector lever cable in mounting bracket.
- Install mounting bracket on body.
Tighten nuts (Qty. 4) from above to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.).
- Connect harness connectors.
- Install locking cable and adjust.
- Install cover.
- Shift selector lever into position "2."
- Install selector lever handle.
- Connect selector lever cable to selector lever.





- Install locking plate -A- for selector lever cable onto mounting bracket.
- Installation position: the angled end of the locking plate must point toward the end of the selector lever cable
- Press together ends of securing clip -B- and slide onto end of selector lever cable.
- Install cover. When doing this check position of seal.





- Tighten nuts (Qty. 4) to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.).
- Check selector lever cable adjustment, adjust if necessary.
- Check operation of ignition key withdrawal lock.
- Install drive shaft.
- Install front left and right-hand exhaust pipes.
- Install center console and extension.
- Reconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
- Input correct coding for anti-theft radio (if equipped).
- Check selector mechanism.
