Electrical/Electronic component locations
1. ABS hydraulic unit -N55-
The hydraulic unit consists of the following components:
- Return flow pump -V39- is checked by the On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
- Valve block with inlet and outlet valves
- The return flow pump -V39- and valve block must not be separated from one another.
- ABS hydraulic unit multi-pin connectors. Multi-Pin Connectors, Terminal Assignment
2. ABS control module -J104-
- Checked by On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
- Located on the hydraulic unit at left side of engine compartment
- Checking the multi-pin connector to control module
- Do not disconnect connector (26-pin) before successfully checking DTC memory
- First switch ignition off then separate connector
3. Hydraulic unit for ABS/EDL or ABS/EDL with TCS -N55-
The hydraulic unit consists of the components:
- Return flow pump -V39- is checked by the On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
- Valve block with inlet and outlet valves
- The return flow pump -V39- and valve block must not be separated from one another
Distinguishing features:
The hydraulic unit can only be distinguished externally by the different part numbers.

4. Control module for ABS/EDL or ABS/EDL with TCS -J104-
- Checked by On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
- Located on the hydraulic unit at left side of engine compartment.
- Checking the multi-pin connector to control module
- Do not disconnect connector (26 or 31-pin) before successfully checking DTC memory
- First switch ignition off then separate connector

Distinguishing features:
The control module can only be distinguished externally by the different part numbers.
With TCS the wiring harness connection for the control module -J104- has 5 additional contacts (31-pin).

5. TCS (ASR) Traction control indicator light -K86-
- Location: In the instrument cluster.
- Function: ABS Bosch 5.3, ABS/Edl Bosch 5.3 & ABS/Edl W/TCS Bosch 5.3
6. Warning light for brake system -K118-
- Location: In the instrument cluster
- Function:
7. ABS warning light -K47-
- Location: In the instrument cluster
- Function:
8. Brake light switch (F)
- Adjusting
- Checked via measured value block. Read Measured Value Block
9. Data Link Connectors (DLC)
- Location: below the cover next to the parking brake lever hand grip
10. Impulse rotor for front wheel speed sensors
- Removing and installing
- Information on removing and installing:
11. Right-front/left-front ABS wheel speed sensors - G45-/-G47-
- Checked by On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
- Information on removing and installing:
- Mounting bolt tightening torque: 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.)
12. Right-rear/left-rear ABS wheel speed sensors - G44-/-G46-
- Checked by On Board Diagnostic (OBD)
- Information on removing and installing:
- Mounting bolt tightening torque: 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.)
13. Impulse rotor for rear wheel speed sensors
