Headlamp Alignment Actuator: Service and Repair

Headlight Beam Adjusting Motor* (Golf), Removing And Installing

NOTE:

- Beam adjusting motor can only be removed and installed with headlight housing removed.
- If positioning motors are removed and installed or replaced, always carry out headlight basic setting with VAS 5107 Optical headlight aimer. Inclination dimension is embossed on headlight housing.


Removing

- Remove headlight.






- Release spring clip -arrow- and remove sealing cover.
- Disconnect electrical connector.

- Release left-hand positioning motor -arrow- by turning to left and right-hand by turning to right.
- Pull positioning shaft ball head out of locking device on reflector.

Installing






- Guide positioning motor positioning shaft into ball head mounting -arrow-, hold reflector base plate up through opening in headlight when doing this.
- Lock positioning motor in fitting position by turning.
- Connect electrical connections.
- Install sealing cover.
- Install headlight.
- Check headlight adjustment if necessary.
