Flanged shaft oil seal (right), replacing
Special tools, and auxiliary items

Removing
- Only loosen drive shaft/wheel hub bolt and wheel bolts when vehicle is standing on its wheels.
- Raise vehicle
- Remove wheel.





- Remove right axle shaft noise insulation from wheel house (arrows).
- Remove right axle shaft protective plate.
- Remove axle shaft





- Remove flanged shaft bolt (arrow) (use pin to prevent flange from turning).
- Place drain pan under transmission.
- Remove right flanged shaft.





- Remove flanged shaft oil seal.

Installing





- Drive new seal in onto stop, and ensure seal goes in straight.
- Install axle shaft.
- Install right axle shaft protective plate.
- Install wheel.
- With transmission installed, check final drive oil level Differential Fluid - A/T





Tightening torques
Flanged shaft to transmission 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.)
Axle shaft to transmission M 10 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.)
Axle shaft to wheel hub:
M 14 bolt 115 Nm 185 ft. lbs.) + 180°
- Always replace bolt
M 16 bolt 190 Nm (140 ft. lbs.) + 180°
- Always replace bolt
Wheel bolts to wheel hub 120 Nm (89 ft. lbs.)
Protective plate above right axle shaft to transmission 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
