Fuel Injectors, Removing and Installing

FUEL INJECTORS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING

NOTE: Faulty injectors can cause the following malfunctions:
- Misfiring
- Knocking in one or more cylinders
- Engine over-heating
- Loss of power
- Excessive black exhaust smoke
- Higher fuel consumption
- Excessive blue smoke when starting from cold

CAUTION! Fire hazard. Do NOT smoke or have anything in the area that can ignite Diesel fuel!

Faulty Injectors can be located by loosening the high pressure connector nut on each injector in sequence with the engine running at a high idle speed. If engine speed remains constant after loosening, it indicates a faulty injector.

Removing

- Remove injection lines using slotted ring wrench 3035.

NOTE: Always remove the fuel line cluster as an assembly. Do not alter the shape or routing of the fuel lines.

- Remove the fuel injectors using 27 mm socket.

Installing

NOTE: Always replace heat shield between cylinder head and injectors.
