A resistor wire for daytime running lights (which reduces the light intensity and prolongs the life of the headlight bulbs) has been installed in U.S. and Canadian vehicles as of the following VIN:
USA 1H6SM060590
CAN 1H6SM062969
SERVICE
The resistor wire, Part No: 1HM 971 284 can be installed on vehicles prior to the above VIN numbers that are equipped with daytime running light (headlight switch and relay).
To install a resistor wire on these vehicles, use the following procedure:
- Obtain radio code from customer.
- Disconnect battery ground cable.
- Lower fuse/relay panel.
Note:
Since Published wiring diagrams differ from year to year, use the partial wiring view at left.
- Locate J/3 at back of fuse/relay panel.
- Follow yellow wire from J/3 to wire connection T1j.
- Separate connector T1j, then install new resistor wire.
- Loosely coil excess (resistor) wire and secure to the wiring harness.
- Reinstall Fuse/relay Panel.
- Reconnect battery ground cable.
- Recode radio.
