Throttle Cable/Linkage: Testing and Inspection

Throttle Cable:

PROCEDURE
- Have a helper slowly push the accelerator pedal down to the full-throttle position while watching throttle valve movement on the engine.
- With the accelerator pedal fully depressed, the throttle valve should barely reach the full-throttle stop on the housing, leaving a clearence of:

0.04 in. (1 mm)

- If full throttle forces the throttle valve against the stop, the stress on the cable will cause it to stretch and perhaps fail.
- If full throttle does not open the throttle valve to proper position, loss of power will result.
- If the Throttle Cable is not within the above specifications, refer to ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES.
