Canister Purge Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

The EVAP Frequency Valve is located in the engine compartment mounted to the right fender behind the air cleaner assembly. The electric solenoid type valve is controlled by the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) using an ON-OFF duty cycle or frequency. The valve routes fuel vapor from the fuel tank and sends it to either the carbon canister for storage or to the intake manifold for burning.

EVAP FREQUENCY VALVE TESTING

Fuel Supply Layout:

- Remove harness connector from EVAP. Frequency Valve.

Evaporative System Component Layout:

- Check resistance between frequency valve terminals:

^ MUST BE 40 to 80 ohms
^ IF NOT replace frequency valve
