Rear Suspension

Whenever replacing shock absorbers, always remove and install one shock absorber at a time, since personal injury and/or damage to vehicle may result.

Fig. 1 Rear axle & suspension.:

1. Raise and support rear of vehicle.
2. Position a suitable floor jack under axle beam, then remove upper strut to body attaching nut.
3. Carefully lower floor jack, then remove shock to axle beam mounting bolt.
4. Remove shock and coil spring from vehicle.
5. Secure shock/coil spring assembly in a suitable vise, then carefully remove slotted nut using tool 50-200, Fig. 6.
6. Assemble spring and spring components to new shock as shown in Fig. 1.
7. Reverse procedure to complete installation.
