Bell Housing: Service and Repair

1 Oil drain plug
- Torque 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
2 Dowel sleeve
- Qty: 2
3 Shim S2
- Always 1 mm (0.04 in) thick
4 Outer race of tapered roller bearing for differential
- Removing/Installing - Ring Gear
- When replaced, differential must be adjusted
5 Magnet
- Retained in housing joint surface
- Install with AMV 188 200 03 sealant
6 Shim S3
7 Outer race for output shaft tapered roller bearing
- Removing/Installing - Output Shaft
- When replacing: adjust output shaft
8 Needle bearing





- Removal of needle bearing for input shaft
^ A = Internal extractor 18.5-23.5 mm, e.g. Kukko 21/3
^ B = Counter support, e.g. Kukko 22/1





- Installation of needle bearing





9 Bolt (with locking teeth)
- Torque: 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
10 Relay lever
11 Spring
12 Relay lever bracket
13 Slide piece
14 Starter bushing
- Can be replaced with transmission installed





- Removal of starter bushing





- Installation of starter bushing





15 Threaded plug
16 Plug
17 Clutch housing
- Modified version starting with transmission number 13 09 3
18 Input shaft oil seal





- Removal of input shaft oil seal
^ Fill space between sealing lips with multipurpose grease
^ Can be replaced with transmission removed (not disassembled)





- Installation of input shaft oil seal

CAUTION: 2.0 liter engines have a larger output shaft diameter than transmissions installed with other engines.

- Removal of sleeve
^ Use a screwdriver to pry out sleeve (arrow)
