Control Arm: Service and Repair


1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheel.
2. Remove lower control arm to frame attaching bolts, then disconnect control arm from frame.
3. Remove ball joint to wheel bearing housing clamp bolt, then separate ball joint from housing.
4. Disconnect stabilizer bar from control arm, if equipped, then remove control arm from vehicle.
5. Reverse procedure to install.

WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheel.
2. Remove left front engine mount, then the rear mount attaching nut.
3. Remove engine mount support, then install engine support bar 10-222 or equivalent, across engine compartment.
4. Lift engine with support bar until lower control arm attaching bolts can be removed.
5. Remove control arm to frame attaching bolts.
6. Remove ball joint to wheel bearing housing clamp bolt, then separate ball joint from housing.
7. Disconnect stabilizer bar from control arm, if equipped, then remove control arm.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
