Cold Start Injector: Description and Operation

The cold start valve, Fig. 20, is located in the intake manifold to provide necessary fuel enrichment to all cylinders during starting. The solenoid coil of the cold start valve receives current from the starter and is grounded by the thermo-time switch so that it operates only for a short time while starting a cold engine.
The cold start valve is also used to assist warm starts with a "hot start pulse relay." This relay sends current to the valve in short pulses while cranking.
