If top is left open for long periods, creases can develop at main hinge... These creases do not cause water leaks when top is closed

When replacing or installing top cover on cars prior to VIN 15 C 006 364, rework frame at main hinge as follows:

Work sequence



- remove press button 1, Phillips screws with washers 2, and trim plate
^ remove also grommet for screw 1 from inside



- pull seal 3 out of rail
- detach clamping rail 4
^ dotted spots show location of screws
- remove upholstery nail 5

- lever clips out (arrows)
- lift top cover at lower section
- remove screws of seal at main pillar 6 and pull seal off



- cover area around main hinge
- mark frame as shown
- cut marked area off with small hack saw
- remove burrs, prime and paint
- reinstall all removed parts
