Rear Axle Hub (for Hatchback)

AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: REAR AXLE HUB (for Hatchback): ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

2. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Rear Drum Brake)

3. SEPARATE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY (for Rear Disc Brake) Removal (from 07/2011)

4. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (for Rear Disc Brake) Removal (from 07/2011)

5. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD (for Rear Disc Brake) Removal (from 07/2011)

6. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING (for Rear Disc Brake) Removal (from 07/2011)

7. REMOVE REAR DISC (for Rear Disc Brake) Removal (from 07/2011)

8. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING BACKLASH (for Rear Drum Brake)

(a) Using a dial indicator, check the backlash near the center of the axle hub.





Maximum:

0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)

If the runout exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

9. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING BACKLASH (for Rear Disc Brake)

(a) Using a dial indicator, check the backlash near the center of the axle hub.





Maximum:

0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)

If the runout exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

10. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB RUNOUT (for Rear Drum Brake)

(a) Using a dial indicator, check the runout of the surface of the axle hub.





Maximum:

0.07 mm (0.00276 in.)

If the runout exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

11. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB RUNOUT (for Rear Disc Brake)

(a) Using a dial indicator, check the runout of the surface of the axle hub.





Maximum:

0.07 mm (0.00276 in.)

If the runout exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

12. INSTALL REAR DISC (for Rear Disc Brake) Installation (from 07/2011)

13. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING (for Rear Disc Brake) Installation (from 07/2011)

14. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE PAD (for Rear Disc Brake) Installation (from 07/2011)

15. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (for Rear Disc Brake) Installation (from 07/2011)

16. INSTALL NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY (for Rear Disc Brake) Installation (from 07/2011)

17. INSTALL REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Rear Drum Brake)

18. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

Torque : 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)

19. INSPECT AND ADJUST PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL (for Rear Disc Brake)
