SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (for Hatchback Front Side): REMOVAL

CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Airbag System (for Hatchback with VSC/Built-in Type Yaw Rate Sensor).

HINT
The procedure described below is for the RH side. Use the same procedure for both the RH and LH sides, unless otherwise specified.

1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Service Precautions.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR WINDOW REGULATOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY (w/o Power Window) Disassembly (from 07/2011)

4. REMOVE FRONT ARMREST BASE UPPER PANEL (w/ Power Window) Disassembly (from 07/2011)

5. REMOVE FRONT ARMREST BASE UPPER PANEL (w/o Power Window) Disassembly (from 07/2011)

6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 5 Door) Disassembly (from 07/2011)

7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 3 Door) Disassembly (from 07/2011)

8. REMOVE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR

(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Disconnect the connector from the door side airbag sensor.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.





(1) Push and hold the white housing lock, and slide the yellow outer connector locking sleeve.

(2) Push and hold the white housing lock again, and slide the yellow outer connector locking sleeve to disconnect the connector.

(d) Remove the bolt and door side airbag sensor.





NOTICE:
Loosen the bolt while holding the door side airbag sensor because the door side airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.
