Knee Airbag Assembly (for Hatchback)





SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Hatchback): ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle not Involved in Collision)

(a) Perform a diagnostic system check Airbag System (for Hatchback with VSC/Built-in Type Yaw Rate Sensor).





(b) With the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects, such as those mentioned below, replace the instrument panel with a new one: Any cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.

2. INSPECT LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle Involved in Collision and Airbag has not Deployed)

CAUTION:
For lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly removal and installation procedures, see pages Removal (from 07/2011) and Installation (from 07/2011), and carefully follow the correct procedure.

(a) Perform a diagnostic system check Diagnosis System (from 07/2011).

(b) With the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly removed from the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects, such as those mentioned below, replace the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly, instrument panel or instrument panel reinforcement with new ones:





* Any cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.

* Any cracks or other damage to the connector.

* Deformation or cracks on the instrument panel or instrument panel reinforcement.
