Disassembly

DRIVE SHAFT / PROPELLER SHAFT: PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY: DISASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT

(a) Place matchmarks on both the flanges.

(b) Remove the 4 nuts, 4 bolts and 4 washers.

2. REMOVE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT

(a) Place matchmarks on the rear flange and rear propeller shaft.

NOTICE:
Do not place the matchmarks with a punch.

(b) Using a hexagon wrench (6 mm), remove the 6 bolts and 2 washers and remove the intermediate shaft from the rear propeller shaft.

3. REMOVE NO. 1 CENTER SUPPORT BEARING ASSEMBLY (for Front Side)

(a) Using a hammer and a chisel, loosen the staked part of the nut.

(b) Using SST to hold the universal joint flange, remove the nut and washer

(d) Hold the intermediate shaft in a vise using aluminum plates and remove the universal joint flange using SST.

NOTICE:
* Be careful not to damage the universal joint flange.
* Do not overtighten the vise.
* Apply grease to the threads and end of the SST center bolt (09953-04030) before use.

(e) Remove the No. 1 center support bearing assembly and washer.

4. REMOVE NO. 1 CENTER SUPPORT BEARING ASSEMBLY (for Rear Side)

(a) Using a hammer and a chisel, loosen the staked part of the nut.

(b) Using SST to hold the universal joint flange, remove the nut and washer.

(d) Hold the intermediate shaft in a vise using aluminum plates and remove the universal joint flange using SST.
