Rear Airbag Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction - Airbag System (except TMC Made)

B1635/24 - Rear Airbag Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The side collision sensor LH circuit (to determine deployment of the front seat side airbag assembly LH and curtain shield airbag assembly LH) is composed of the center airbag sensor assembly, side airbag sensor LH and rear airbag sensor LH.

The rear airbag sensor LH detects impacts to the vehicle and sends signals to the center airbag sensor assembly to determine if the airbag should be deployed.

DTC B1635/24 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the rear airbag sensor LH.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR LH

(a) Turn the ignition switch off.





(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Interchange the rear airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.

(d) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

(e) Turn the ignition switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(f) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Airbag System (except TMC Made).

(g) Turn the ignition switch off.

(h) Turn the ignition switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(i) Check for DTCs Airbag System (except TMC Made).

HINT
Codes other than DTCs B1630/23 and B1635/24 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
