Applicability
Introduction
Some 2011 Avalon vehicles may exhibit a fogging or hazing on the interior surface of the rear window glass. A new rear package tray trim assembly has been developed to address this condition.

Repair Procedure
1. Remove rear seat assembly. Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
2011 Avalon:
Vehicle Interior - Seat - "Rear Seat Assembly: Removal"
2. Disengage the 5 clips and 2 claws and remove the rear door scuff plate LH.
3. Disengage the 5 clips and 2 claws and remove the rear door scuff plate RH.
4. Remove rear door opening trim weatherstrip LH.
5. Remove rear door opening trim weatherstrip RH.
6. Disengage the 4 clips and 2 claws and remove the rear seat side garnish LH.
7. Disengage the 4 clips and 2 claws and remove the rear seat side garnish RH.
8. Remove roof side garnish assembly inner LH.
A. Disengage the 3 clips (A).
B. Pull the roof side inner garnish assembly LH forward, disengaging from the metal clip (B).
C. Remove the metal clip (B) from the body.
9. Remove roof side garnish assembly inner RH.
NOTE
Removal of the roof side inner garnish assembly RH is the same as the roof side inner garnish assembly LH.
10. Remove the bolt and disconnect the LH rear seat belt assembly outer.
11. Remove the bolt and disconnect the RH rear seat belt assembly outer.
12. Remove the nut and disconnect the rear seat inner w/ center belt assembly RH.
13. Disengage the 4 claws and the LH rear seat shoulder belt cover.
14. Disengage the 4 claws and the RH rear seat shoulder belt cover.
15. Disengage the 4 claws and the center rear seat shoulder belt cover.
16. Remove package tray trim panel assembly
A. Disengage the 5 claws, 4 clips, and the package tray panel assembly.
B. Disconnect the connector and remove the package tray panel assembly.
17. Using Toyota approved glass cleaner (or equivalent), clean interior window glass.
18. Install NEW package tray trim panel assembly A. Connect the connector.
B. Engage the 5 claws and the 4 clips and install the package tray panel assembly.
19. Reassembly of vehicle is reverse of disassembly.
