B15DF - USB Communication Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is stored when a malfunction occurs in communication with USB device or "iPod".





INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK CONNECTION METHOD

(a) Check the method used to connect the USB device or "iPod" to the No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly.

Result:





B -- REPLACE "iPod"OR USB DEVICE
A -- Continue to next step.

2. REPLACE CONNECTION CABLE

(a) Disconnect the USB device or "iPod" and connection cable from the No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly.

(b) Turn the ignition switch off.

HINT
When one of these DTCs has been stored, it is necessary to turn off the ignition switch to make it possible for the vehicle to recognize a new device when it is connected.

(c) Turn the ignition switch to ACC.

(d) Connect a known good connection cable to the No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly and connect the USB device or "iPod" to the connection cable.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

3. CLEAR DTC

(a) Clear the DTCs DTC Check / Clear (from 12/2010).

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK DTC

(a) Recheck for DTCs and check if the same DTC is output again.

HINT
If DTCs are detected frequently, replace the multi-media interface ECU.

OK:

No DTCs are output.

NG -- REPLACE "iPod"OR USB DEVICE

OK -- END (CONNECTION CABLE WAS DEFECTIVE)

5. REPLACE "iPod"OR USB DEVICE

(a) Disconnect the USB device or "iPod" from the No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly.

(b) Turn the ignition switch off.

HINT
When one of these DTCs has been stored, is necessary to turn off the ignition switch to make it possible for the vehicle to recognize a new device when it is connected.

(c) Turn the ignition switch to ACC.

(d) Connect a known good USB device or "iPod" to the No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly.

HINT
If the malfunction occurred when a USB device was in use, use another USB device for the inspection. If the malfunction occurred when an "iPod" was in use, use another "iPod" for the inspection.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

6. CLEAR DTC

(a) Clear the DTCs DTC Check / Clear (from 12/2010).

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

7. RECHECK DTC

(a) Recheck for DTCs and check if the same DTC is output again.

HINT
If DTCs are detected frequently, replace the multi-media interface ECU.

OK:

No DTCs are output.

NG -- REPLACE MULTI-MEDIA INTERFACE ECU Removal (from 12/2010)

OK -- USB DEVICE OR "iPod" WAS DEFECTIVE
