DESCRIPTION

Power is supplied to the navigation receiver assembly and steering pad switch illumination when the light control switch is in the tail or head position.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
The vehicle is equipped with an SRS (Supplemental Restraint System). Before servicing (including removal or installation of parts), be sure to read the precautionary notice for the Supplemental Restraint System Service Precautions.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK ILLUMINATION

(a) Check if the illumination for the navigation receiver assembly, steering pad switch, glove box or others (hazard switch, transmission control switch, etc.) comes on when the light control switch is turned to the tail or head position.

2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - SPIRAL CABLE)

(a) Disconnect the D18 spiral cable connector.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE

(a) Disconnect the steering pad switch and spiral cable connectors.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NOTICE:
The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying. Refer to the pages shown in the brackets.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE - NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY)

(a) Disconnect the E20 navigation receiver assembly.





(b) Disconnect the D18 spiral cable connector.





(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH

(a) Disconnect the z5 steering pad switch connector.

(b) Connect a positive (+) lead to terminal IL+2 and a negative (-) lead to terminal EAU of the steering pad switch connector.





(c) Check if the illumination for the steering pad switch comes on.

OK:

Illumination for the steering pad switch comes on.

6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY)

(a) Disconnect the E17 navigation receiver assembly connector.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NAVIGATION RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY)

(a) Disconnect the E17 navigation receiver assembly connector.





(b) Disconnect the E2 combination meter assembly connector.





(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
