Front Seat Outer Belt Assembly

REMOVAL

HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the RH side.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag from deploying.

2. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR WEATHERSTRIP RH
4. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
5. REMOVE REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP RH
6. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LOWER RH
7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY RH

CAUTION:
- Removal of the seat belt pretensioner must be started at least 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned OFF and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
- Carefully read the notices for the "pretensioner" in the SRS airbag system and front seat outer belt assembly.





a. Using a screwdriver, remove the shoulder anchor cover.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

b. Remove the bolt and disconnect the front seat outer belt (shoulder anchor side).
c. Using screwdriver, remove the floor anchor cover.
d. Remove the bolt and disconnect the front seat outer belt assembly RH (floor anchor side).

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.




e. To disconnect the pretensioner connector:
1. horizontally pull out the lock part of the connector as indicated by the black arrow in the illustration, and
2. remove the connector.

f. Remove the 2 bolts and front seat outer belt assembly RH.

8. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH RH
9. REMOVE FRONT SHOULDER ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the bolt and front shoulder belt anchor adjuster assembly.

INSTALLATION

HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the RH side.

1. INSTALL FRONT SHOULDER ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY
2. INSTALL CENTER PILLAR GARNISH RH




3. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY RH

NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor.

a. Before installing the ELR, check the ELR.
1. Gently tilt the ELR and pull the belt. Check that the belt will not lock within 15° of tilt in all directions. Then check that the belt will lock when over 45° of tilt is applied.

If the operation is not as specified, replace the front seat outer belt assembly.

b. Install the retractor with the 2 bolts.

Torque:
For upper bolt: 4.9 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 43 in.lbf)
For lower bolt: 41.2 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf)

c. Install the shoulder anchor with the bolt.

Torque: 41.2 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf)

d. Install the shoulder anchor cover.

e. Install the floor anchor with the bolt.

Torque: 41.2 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf)

f. Install the floor anchor cover.
g. After installing the ELR, check the ELR.

NOTE: The check should be perform with the assembly installed.

1. With the belt installed, check that the belt locks when it is pulled out quickly.
If the operation is not as specified, replace the front seat outer belt assembly.

4. INSTALL CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LOWER RH
5. INSTALL REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP RH
6. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
7. INSTALL FRONT DOOR WEATHERSTRIP RH
8. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
9. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
10. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
