Upper Panel

1. Manual A/C:
INSPECT A/C INDICATOR OPERATION





a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and negative (-) lead to terminal 2.
b. Push the A/C button in and check that the A/C indicator lights up.
If operation is not as specified, replace the heater control assembly.




c. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 8 and negative (-) lead to terminal 10, then check that the indicator dimes.
If operation is not as specified, replace the heater control assembly.

2. Auto A/C:
INSPECT A/C INDICATOR OPERATION





a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 9 and negative (-) lead to terminal 2.
b. Check that the A/C indicator lights up.
If operation is not as specified, replace the heater control assembly.

3. Manual A/C:
INSPECT AIR INLET INDICATORS OPERATION





a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and negative (-) lead to terminals 6 and 7.
b. Check the "FRESH" and "RECIRC" indicators light up alternately each time the air inlet control switch button is pressed.
If operation is not as specified, replace the heater control assembly.

4. Auto A/C:
INSPECT AIR INLET INDICATORS OPERATION





a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 9 and negative (-) lead to terminal 14.
b. Check that the "RECIRC" indicator lights up.
If operation is not as specified, replace the heater control assembly.
c. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 9 and negative (-) lead to terminal 4.
d. Check that the "FRESH" indicator lights up.
If operation is not as specified, replace the heater control assembly.




5. INSPECT A/C SWITCH CONTINUITY




Manual A/C:

If continuity is not as specified, replace the heater control assembly.




Auto A/C:
If continuity is not as specified, replace the heater control assembly.

6. Auto A/C:
INSPECT A/C INDICATOR DIMMING OPERATION





a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 6 and negative (-) lead to terminal 7 and 2.
b. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 8 and check that the indicator dimes.

7. Auto A/C:
INSPECT AIR INLET CONTROL SWITCH OPERATION





Check the continuity exists between terminals 3 and 11 while switch is pressed.
If no continuity exists replace the heater control assembly.
