Assembly

AFTER ASSEMBLY
1. Install oil filter union.





Using a 12 mm hexagon wrench, install the oil filter union.
Torque: 25 Nm (250 kg.cm, 18 ft. lbs.)
2. Install oil pump and pressure regulator valve.
3. Install oil pressure switch.
(a) Clean the switch threads and cylinder block switch holes of any sealer, oil or foreign materials. Remove any oil with kerosene or gasoline.





(b) Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of the switch end
Adhesive: Part No. 08833 - 00080, THREE BOND 1344, LOCTITE 242 or equivalent.





(c) Using Special Service Tool (SST) # 09816 - 30010 or equivalent, install the oil pressure switch.
Torque: 13 Nm (130 kg.cm, 9 ft. lbs.)
4. Install oil filter.





5. Install Right-Hand (RH) engine mounting bracket.
Torque: 58 Nm (590 kg.cm, 43 ft. lbs.)





6. Install knock sensor.
Using SST # 09816 - 30010 or equivalent, install the knock sensor.
Torque: 45 Nm (450 kg.cm, 33 ft. lbs.)





7. Install generator bracket.
Torque: 24 Nm (240 kg.cm, 18 ft. lbs.)
8. Install water pump with water inlet pipe.
9. Install oil dipstick guide and generator adjusting bar.
10. Install cylinder head.
11. Install timing belt and pulleys.
12. Remove engine stand.





13. Install rear end plate.
Torque: 10 Nm (100 kg.cm, 7 ft. lbs.)
14. Manual Transaxle (M/T): Install flywheel.





(a) Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of new mounting bolt end.
Adhesive: Part No. 08833 - 00070, THREE BOND 1324 or equivalent.
(b) Install the flywheel on the crankshaft.





(c) Install and uniformly tighten the mounting bolts, in several passes, in the sequence shown.
Torque: 90 Nm (900 kg.cm, 65 ft. lbs.)
15. Automatic Transaxle (A/T): Install drive plate. (See procedure in step 14.)
16. M/T: Install clutch disc and cover.
