Parking Brake Pedal: Service and Repair

Parking Brake Pedal Components:






REMOVAL
1. Remove instrument lower panel and finish lower LH panel.
2. Remove junction block.
3. Remove Parking Brake Pedal bracket assembly.
(a) Remove the 3 bolts.
Torque: 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.)
(b) Remove the 2 clips and pin, and disconnect Parking Brake Cable No.1.
(c) Remove the 2 screws, and disconnect the release cable.
Torque: 2.7 Nm (24 inch lbs.)
Disconnect the connector, and remove the Parking Brake Switch.
4. If necessary, remove Shock Absorber.
(a) Loosen the union lock nut.
Torque: 13 Nm (9 ft. lbs.)

Loosening Union Lock Nut:





(b) Remove the Shock Absorber.

NOTE:
- Install the Shock Absorber to the pin on the pedal bracket side, then extend the piston rod fully.
- Return the pedal until it hits the cushion. Make adjustments so that the Shock Absorber's union and the pin on the pedal side are aligned, then turn the union 1 turn counterclockwise.

INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
