Wheels and Tires: Testing and Inspection

1. Inspect tire, as follows:
a. Check the tires for wear and for the proper inflation pressure.

Cold tire inflation pressure:
Tire size:
Front: 225/50R16 92V
Rear: 245/45R16 94V

Tire Pressure (front, rear): 230 kPa (33 psi).





b. Check the tire runout.

Tire runout: 1.4 mm (0.055 inch) or less.





2. Inspect wheel balance, as follows:
a. Check and adjust the off-the-car balance.
b. If necessary, check and adjust the on-the-car balance.

Unbalance after adjustment: 5.0 g (0.011 lbs.) or less.





3. Check wheel bearing looseness, as follows:
a. Check the axle bearing backlash.

Maximum backlash: 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch).

b. Check the axle hub deviation.

Maximum deviation: 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch).

4. Check front suspension for looseness.
5. Check steering linkage for looseness.
6. Check ball joint for looseness.
7. Check shock absorber works properly, as follows:
- Check for oil leakage.
- Check the mounting bushings for wear.
- Bounce the front and rear of the vehicle.
