Removal and Installation

Power Steering Vane Pump / 2JZ-GTE:

Power Steering Vane Pump / 2JZ-GE & 2JZ-GTE:

REMOVAL
1. Remove engine under cover. Remove the ten screws.
2. Remove battery, as follows:
a. Disconnect the two terminals.
b. Remove the bolt, nut and battery clamp.
c. Remove the battery cover.
d. Remove the battery and battery carrier.

3. Remove air hose No. 5.





4. Remove drive belt. Loosen the drive belt tension by turning the drive belt tensioner clockwise, and remove the drive belt.
5. Disconnect the oil reservoir to pump hose.

NOTICE: Take care not to spill fluid on the A/C compressor rotor.





6. Using Special Service Tool (SST) 09960 - 10010 (09962 - 01000, 09963 - 01000) or equivalents, to stop the pulley rotating, remove the nut.





7. Remove pressure feed tube. Using a (24 mm) spanner to hold the pressure port union, remove the union bolt and gasket.
8. Remove power steering vane pump assembly. Remove the two pump assembly set bolts.


INSTALLATION
1. Install power steering vane pump assembly. Torque the two bolts.

Torque: 58 Nm (42 ft. lbs.).





2. Connect pressure feed tube. Using a (24 mm) spanner to hold the pressure port union, torque the union bolt with a new gasket.

NOTE: Make sure that the stopper of the tube is touching the power steering vane pump assembly as shown, before tightening the union bolt.

Torque: 49 Nm (36 ft lbs.).





3. Using SST 09960 - 10010 (09962 - 01000, 09663 - 01000) or equivalent, to stop the pulley rotating, torque the nut.

Torque: 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).

4. Connect oil reservoir to pump hose.





5. Install drive belt. Loosen the drive belt tension by turning the drive belt tensioner clockwise, and install the drive belt.
6. Install the air hose No. 5.
7. Install battery, as follows:
a. Install the battery carrier and battery.
b. Install the battery cover.
c. Install the battery clamp with bolt and nut.
d. Connect the two terminals.

8. Install engine under cover. Install the ten screws.
9. Bleed power steering system.
